It’s Literacy day for Polly today. Literacy is commonly understood as reading and writing. But before children can read and write, they need to learn about sounds, words, language, books and stories. The kids were so attentive listening to the short story told by the teacher. From the story, kids learned vocabulary words such as run and red. To evaluate the extent of learning they had, they were asked to look for the letters from the box and be able to form it into words…run and red. Then they were asked to read the word that they formed and pasted it on the wall.
The story foretold a princess who loves to catch butterflies. As a craft, kids did a butterfly crown which they wore while listening to the story. It was a great and remarkable accomplishment for the kids to be able to spell the words and read it correctly.
Good job kids!
